I am a neuroscience major a psychology minor. I decided to major in neuroscience because my mother is a marriage and family therapist and I always thought her work was important and fulfilling, but I have always loved science about physiology and mechanisms of our systems. I wanted to know how to help people with these struggles but also understand the mechanisms, anatomy, and chemistry of the issues as well.
I joined the lab because I have always had a passion about neuroanatomy and the development and treatment of developmental disorders. Some experiences that helped with this development are being able to participate as a teaching assistant in the cadaver labs at BYU and developing a love for the brain there, as well as having positive experiences in my psychopathology and cognition courses. I find the link between Neuroanatomy, using imaging tools, and understanding of developmental delays or regressions due to TBI or disease important and fascinating.
When I am not in the lab I enjoy playing basketball, watching basketball or football, cooking, as well as watching movies.
My future education goals include becoming a clinical neuropsychologist by obtaining a clinical psychology PhD and studying some of the neurodevelopmental and neuroanatomical differences in children with an ASD diagnosis, particularly with the subject of the lack of pruning in white matter tracts.
